BOOTLEGS:
The are a load of recordings of shows that we have played down the years, dating from 2001 to present. We actively encourage anyone who wishes to make their own recording of our live performances, on the proviso that they are doing so expressly not for the purpose of making any money out of it. We have no problems with people trading shows or uploading recordings of our shows on to the internet - and please contact us if you do own any live recordings! We're always interested in hearing them, and adding to our work-in-progress Souvaris Memorial Archive.
PLEASE NOTE: Bootlegs are a poor substitute for seeing us make fools of ourselves in the flesh. You miss the winks, nods, frantically waving arms, blatant barging into audience members and amusing scenes of discord in the ranks whenever someone fudges a note or chord change.
UNRELEASED:
Prior to trying to charge unsuspecting people money for our music, we made several home demos from December 2000 - December 2001, giving selected recordings and mixes away to friends, family and John Peel (R.I.P.). If you own or have downloaded any of these, the song titles are invariably either bad jokes (nothing changes there) or made up by Ian Whitehead (and therefore never actually called that by anyone except in his head). Most of them sound relatively awful, apart from the one we (quite coincidentally) recorded after watching the news on 11th September 2001. No, really. How tacky is that? You can hear some of the fruits of this labour on our sounds page.
Lastly, the legendary John Peel(RIP)-played version of "We Cannot Help But We Can Agree" that you may most often stumble across stems from a five-track (i.e. broken 8-track) recording in our barn circa April 2001, when the band was still finding its feet, and was at the time temporarily deprived of Michael Beevor's involvement. MP3 versions of this still proliferate peer-to-peer trading networks, and we get occasional emails proclaiming it to be the best thing we ever did. The people who say this are wrong. As the guy who emailed Peel after he'd played it said; it sounds just like the Black Heart Procession.
